MEN’S A

With only a 4 point lead over second place Norfolk, Suffolk A team needed a good result against Bedfordshire.

The first session of eleven frames was fairly even with Bedfordshire taking six frames.  After going 11-8 down during the second session, Suffolk responded taking the last three frames of the session to level the match at 11 all. Suffolk continued the run of wins taking the first three in the third session to lead the match for the first time.  Bedfordshire came back at Suffolk with a vengeance taking the next 9 frames to lead 20-14. Despite great efforts from, both teams took a further five frames to make the final score Suffolk 19, Bedfordshire 25.

Good performances from S Lish, P Keeble, S Kane, M Puntschart and N Acton each winning three out of four frames.

Meanwhile, Norfolk had beaten Essex 26-18 to lead the Region 4 tables on 227 points.  Suffolk are now in second place just 8 points behind with 219 points.  Bedfordshire are third with 199 points.

MEN’S B

Currently fifth out of six in Region 4, Suffolk Mens B team were playing catchup.  The first two sessions went in Bedfordshire's favour 6-5.  Trailing by two frames, Suffolk needed a good third session (not something they are known for) to turn things around.  Bedfordshire only took 4 out of the next 11 frames allowing Suffolk to take the lead 17-16.  A performance which Suffolk were able to repeat in the final session to win the match 24 frames to 20.

Excellent results from J Adams and S Clements each winning all four frames.  Also well done to S Kempton and S Boulter for winning three out of four.

Despite this win, Suffolk B are still in fifth place on 191 points, trailing Bedfordshire by just three points.  Norfolk are currently clear leaders on 236 points.  However, second placed Essex are on 204 points, just 13 points ahead of Suffolk and next month these two teams meet at the Suffolk venue. A good win for Suffolk could put them right up into second place!
